- Discuss in detail specific actions taken to implement the principles, rules and techniques outlined in “How to Win Friends & Influence People,” by Dale Carnegie.
- Complete the personal brand manifesto. See Appendix B for more details.
- Discuss your assessment center results and actions completed over the semester to improve your skills.
- Over the semester implement a REFLECT action plan to improve three REFLECT skills (selection from the following: strategic vision, strategic self-awareness, resilience, drive, interpersonal intuition, valuing others, collaboration). Please make sure you include the following:
- Thoroughly describe the specific activities, tasks, projects and experiences you participated in to improve the three skills you selected
- Reflect on what you achieved and learned
- Outline and describe lessons learned and skills utilized
- Utilize critical thinking and analysis. See Appendix C for more details.
- Complete a mock interview using the behavioral interviewing sample questions in the REFLECT exercise. (Develop written responses to each interview questions; record your mock interview; critique your interview performance and post the interview)
- Speech Critique: You are required to attend one of the events listed in Appendix D. Critique the talk using the concepts learned in CPBE225 and address how the speech impacted you
- Select at least 10 TED talks to watch on topics covered in CPBE225 and summarize (Name of presenter and title or topic of their presentation; what were the main points the presenter was trying to make?; What was the “opening”, and how did it work in your opinion?; What was the closing and how well did it work?
- How have you changed - and what have you learned - as a result of this reflection and overall course experience?
- Create a synthesis of your semester in this course (it is especially important for you to synthesize your learned and combine what you have learned). Make this synthesis for your personal benefit and future use, including key lessons and takeaways.
- Elevator Speech: You will represent your personal brand in a 60-90 second elevator speech including appropriate tagline. In the professional world, a strong “elevator speech” is needed. Students will prepare a strategic 60-second “elevator speech” introducing themselves and briefly highlighting their strengths and contributions. First impressions are crucial! If all goes as planned, we will be able to use a real elevator. This will be an online video that you post. Include the link in your reflection.
